Take the hair assessmentThe Ameliorate Soothing Shampoo (300ml) is a gentle, pH-balanced formula designed by scalp care experts to soothe and rebalance dry, flaky or itchy scalps. Enriched with the brand's LaH6 Skin Hydration Complex, prebiotics, lactitol and xylitol, it helps reduce flakes, redness and dryness, restoring the scalp's natural protective barrier. The conditioner leaves hair soft, shiny and manageable, while the scalp feels more comfortable and hydrated. Suitable for all hair types, this nourishing shampoo promotes a healthier scalp and hair, enhancing overall manageability and appearance for visibly healthier, smoother and more vibrant hair with each wash.
Written from the ingredient list. Where it describes how a formula behaves, that is inferred from what the ingredients are and where they sit in the list, not measured.
Soothing is a shampoo from Ameliorate, aimed at fine hair, straight hair and wavy hair. On the evidence of its ingredient list, the formula works on moisture, frizz control and oil control. The ingredients doing most of that work are Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate and Acrylates/c10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer. The list runs to 38 ingredients, 22 of which carry a role we recognise for hair.
It is sulfate-free: the cleansing is done by Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate and Sodium Lauroyl Oat Amino Acids, milder surfactants that leave more of the hair's own oil behind.
The formula reads as lightweight: humectants lead and there is little in the way of heavy oil or silicone, so it should not weigh fine hair down. It contains Silicone Quaternium-22. Silicones smooth the cuticle and cut frizz on contact; they are also what a clarifying wash is for, because they do not rinse out with a mild shampoo. The formula leans to moisture rather than protein.
There is a small amount of protein in the list: Sodium Lauroyl Oat Amino Acids.
For the scalp itself the formula carries Piroctone Olamine and Lactic Acid.
Several ingredients here stay on the hair between washes — Acrylates/c10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Silicone Quaternium-22 and Polyquaternium-10 — so on low-porosity or fine hair this is a formula that will want a clarifying wash from time to time.
It is the first step of a wash: it goes on wet hair before anything else. Apply to wet hair and massage into a lather. Rinse thoroughly with warm water and follow with AMELIORATE Soothing Conditioner. Suitable for everyday use.
Nothing in this formula is aimed at protein & strength, volume / lightweight, color protection and damage repair — not a fault, just the shape of what is in the bottle, and the reason one product rarely covers a whole routine. No ingredient here is one we recognise as supporting hair growth. Reducing breakage and growing hair are different things, and this formula's evidence is for the first.
