Damage Therapy No-Wash Treatment EX is a leave-in from GROWUS, aimed at wavy hair, curly hair and medium hair. On the evidence of its ingredient list, the formula works on shine, frizz control and protein & strength. The ingredients doing most of that work are Cyclopentasiloxane, Cyclohexasiloxane and Isopropyl Myristate. The list runs to 81 ingredients, 28 of which carry a role we recognise for hair.
By the balance of its ingredients the formula reads as neither especially rich nor especially light. It contains Cyclopentasiloxane and Cyclohexasiloxane. Silicones smooth the cuticle and cut frizz on contact; they are also what a clarifying wash is for, because they do not rinse out with a mild shampoo.
This is a protein-heavy formula, built on Hydrolyzed Keratin, Hydrolyzed Elastin, Hydrolyzed Collagen and Soluble Collagen. Protein reinforces a damaged cortex, which is why bleached and high-porosity hair reaches for it — and why hair that is not damaged can end up feeling brittle after too much of it.
For the scalp itself the formula carries Menthol.
Several ingredients here stay on the hair between washes — Cyclopentasiloxane and Cyclohexasiloxane — so on low-porosity or fine hair this is a formula that will want a clarifying wash from time to time.
It is a leave-in: applied after washing and not rinsed out. After towel-drying, apply an appropriate amount to mid-lengths and ends. Distribute evenly and style as usual. Can also be used on dry hair to tame frizz and add shine.
Nothing in this formula is aimed at scalp soothing, oil control, volume / lightweight and curl definition — not a fault, just the shape of what is in the bottle, and the reason one product rarely covers a whole routine. No ingredient here is one we recognise as supporting hair growth. Reducing breakage and growing hair are different things, and this formula's evidence is for the first.
